Everybody Needs a Little Time Away

I'm in a frame of mind where I could use some down time - time to think, rest, and just be. I can't do it right now, since my Mom is here, and we have a family event this weekend. Next weekend there's an annual barbecue with friends to attend, so it won't happen then, either. Maybe I can manage an early trip to the beach one Sunday for an hour or so alone.

I'd love a real getaway - a couple of days in a quiet, beautiful place. It would be difficult to arrange an escape at this time of year without a bit of travel, since we're at the height of the tourist season, and I can't think of anyplace to go that isn't teeming with humanity. During the off season, I could probably find a quiet little B&B somewhere.

Where do you go and what do you do when you need some time alone?

Oh Sister, you're asking the wrong person, since starting e-bay, 6 years ago, I've had two days off, when we had the black out several years ago and only because it was vittually impossible to get on line. I get up daily, at 3am and I'm on the go until 11pm. E-bay is a cruel mistress but ladies must live.

In past years, when I could travel and take time off, I always went to Philadelphia, no matter the season, it's always been the one place that I feel serene, calm, at peace and safe from life's woes, sort of like Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffanys, Philly is my Tiffanys.

We head out to the west coast of Florida to Sanibel and Capiva Island. It's the most wonderful place in Florida and for us it's only a three hour drive. Just watching the gulf roll in and out with no sounds except the sea birds. Sea birds make beautiful music for relaxing.

Merci,
Guess its too far away but I know a relative who has a beautiful B&B on Lake Erie, OH. Its called Georgian Manor Inn, it big and beautiful. That's my next getaway weekend.

Mags,
Should you come to Philly I know a few bloggers that would love to meet you for lunch darling. How about the Bellview, you know the place?

POP,
We own one of those timeshare places in Florida. Captiva and Sanibel are destinations that I;d love to visit.

Miss Magnolia-
If you ever come to Philly for a visit, the creme brulee is on me! Zelda is right, you would be feted by many local bloggers.

POP-
Sounds lovely! We sometimes find that kind of serenity during the winter (if it's not too cold out). At this time of year, it's a bit more difficult.

I know what you mean about the seabirds. The cries of the gulls over the crashing of the waves is so soothing.

Zelda-
It's too far right now, but it sounds marvelous for a getaway one of these days! I love B&B's, so it's definitely a place to keep in mind.

One day dear, if I can manage to find the time away from the computer and e-bay, it would be heaven.

Amazingly when I need alone time, I like to head to the mall, or drive around, or the airport, but all by myself - I find I can think clearest when surrounded by people - wierd, no?

virginia gal-
Not weird at all. Sometimes I love to go to the mall or the boardwalk alone for just that reason.
